Weekly Devotional

By Max Lucado
Dependable people are like diamonds. They are precious because they are so rare. Experience and know-how are great assets, but they are not much good without trustworthiness. Talent is wonderful, but by itself its not enough. Far better to be a faithful christian. Are you? Like Timothy and Epaphroditus , are you a role model for others? Determine to be a person others can rely on. Keep your word. Show up. Be consistent. Live for others. Take risks . Be a "go to" guy or gal. Make it your goal, by God's grace, to exemplify a life of spiritual steadiness.

WE ARE THE HARVESTERS

Matthew 9:35-38

35-36 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in THEIR SYNAGOGUES, (the Hebrew, Jewish synagogues). Preaching the good news of THE KINGDOM!

Jesus went to the Jewish people, the people God chose through Abraham and then used Moses to lead them out of bondage in Egypt. God then gave Moses the TEN COMMANDMENTS for the people to follow and love their creator. Then came guidelines for the people to have a temple, buildings, religious leaders, laws, rules and guidelines.

Jesus was born of a Jewish woman and the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary with Jesus’s seed. And provided Joseph to raise Jesus in the Jewish ways. Joseph is a descendant of David, just as Mary is.  See Jesus is the fulfillment of all of the prophecies of the Savior to come and die for the sins of those that would call upon His name.

Vs 35-36 “Preaching the good news of the Kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. Jesus had compassion on them (the people), because they were harassed and helpless, LIKE SHEEP WITHOUT A SHEPHERD!”

Jesus because he is God and is having the Holy Spirit guide him, sees people’s hearts, hurts, illnesses, problems etc.

But he didn’t just say the Christian’s favorite words, “I will pray for you” and then forget to pray! (Or had no intention of praying)

Jesus asked his father to guide him to heal, comfort, free them from their bondage.

We are to view people just as Jesus did. LIKE SHEEP WITHOUT A SHEPHERD!

In 9:37-38. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL BUT THE WORKERS ARE FEW.  ASK THE LORD OF THE HARVEST, THEREFORE TO SEND OUT WORKERS INTO HIS HARVEST FIELD!”

WHO is Jesus asking the disciples to ASK? Not himself! He is wanting them to pray to Jesus’s Father! GOD!

In Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning GOD”

    1:3,6,9,11,14,20,24,26 Then GOD said

1:2 The Spirit of GOD was hovering over the waters

1:26 Then God said, LET US make man in OUR IMAGE, in OUR LIKENESS!

Wait this doesn’t mention Jesus? What? Only God and Spirit?

Let’s clarify!!  John 1:1-5. In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD!  HE was with GOD in the beginning! Through HIM all things were made; WITHOUT HIM nothing was made that has been made.  In HIM was life, and that life was the LIGHT of men.  The LIGHT shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

John 1:14. The WORD became flesh and lived for a while amongst us.  We have seen HIS glory, the glory of the ONE AND ONLY SON, who came from the FATHER, full of grace and truth!

For see the disciples have not been filled with the Holy Spirit, that is not happening until after Jesus is crucified, resurrected, appears to over 500 over 40 days and ascends to Heaven!   And then ONLY have their salvation is sealed with the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. (Ephesians 1:13, “Having believed, you were marked in Him with a SEAL, THE PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT)!  (Ephesians 1:14, “Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession - to the praise of His glory”)

We today pray through the Holy Spirit (Who lives inside of us), the Holy Spirit prays to Jesus for him to intercede before the Father for us. John 16:5-15

We are the harvesters!  For the harvest is plentiful, BUT WE NEED TO PRAY FOR WORKERS TO JOIN US UNDER GOD’s MIGHTY LEADERSHIP THROUGH JESUS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT!

GOD IS THE SUPPLY OF YOUR LIFE

2ND. TEACHING FOR KABUIN JOSHUA
April 16, 2025.  John 15:1-8

JOHN 15:1-8
Kabuin this scripture is giving a visual picture of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

And how when we accept His calling, we are grafted into the body or bride of Christ. The Holy Spirit flows through Jesus, the vine, into the branches to teach us how to be his disciples. Through the teachings from the Holy Spirit come the teachings from the Father to Jesus to the Holy Spirit to us.

If we do not draw unto Jesus through the Holy Spirit, the Father will trim us, allow us to be tempted by satan, to strength our walk in Christ.      If we don’t draw into an intimate relationship with Jesus, the Father will trim our limbs.

The scripture says there that we will receive anything we ask in His name.  BUT he is saying in other scripture that “We don’t receive because we ask for the wrong motives”. And that what we ask for needs to Glorify the Father.

We cannot ”Name it and claim it”.    That is not what the scriptures say and mean.

Our hearts have to be pure and seeking God’s grace and mercy.  Not for our own benefit, Only for His Glory!
